Saturation

When you think of spring, what comes to mind? For me it’s the beautiful vibrant colours that will return to the outer world and the brighter days that will follow. Saturation/colour is a good starting point and can influence how a photoshoot may end up – consider how you want your final photographs to look, you may want them to stand out with a touch of vibrancy while remaining truthful to the subject’s nature.

Inside or outside

With the days getting warmer, you want to be capturing your subjects both inside and outside. Consider your intentions for the photoshoot and how you use natural light to your advantage. For example, in the image above, the photographer has clearly planned the time of day they were going to capture the dog surrounded by bubbles and took advantage of the natural light that appears just before sunset. This has created a nice clean image with the bubbles and dog being complimented by the light and tone.

Crop

Using a variety of aspect ratios, you can elevate your image from a mundane subject to something sparking interest for the viewer, making them look twice. The entire subject doesn’t have to be within the frame, and it may be worthwhile experimenting with different aspect ratios within your shoot. You may be surprised by which image you choose for the final cut.

Authenticity and storytelling

Authenticity and storytelling are critical components in making your images stand out. Yes, you can create aesthetically pleasing photographs but having a meaning behind your images allows the viewer to imagine themselves in the location or relate with the subject in some manner. For example, in the image above, I can envision myself walking down the street among the Arabic architecture, soaking in the sunlight.

We hope you feel inspired to plan your next shoot while thinking about our top four tips on how you can make your images unique and stand out. Don’t forget to use relevant keywords such as bright, contemporary, colour, fashion etc. to ensure our customers can find your content.
