1930-2022: World Cup winners in pictures

The FIFA World Cup. It brings people together. It brings countries together. It unites us. And it has been doing so since the 13th July 1930.

Taking place in Uruguay, the first World Cup looked a little different compared to what we see at major football competitions today. Only four teams played, and they all arrived together on the same boat, to an unfinished stadium. A sight which todays generation of football fans might laugh at.

While the World Cup has evolved since then, there’s always a team who comes out trumps, and a country full of joy and celebration.

The cup has been raised 21 times since 1930, and the anticipation for the 2022 matches has begun. You’ll see all the action on Alamy.

To celebrate the world’s biggest football competition, we look back at every World Cup winner since 1930.
